Across the world, gaming is a pastime that’s only skyrocketed following the technological advancements made in the 20^th and 21^st centuries. However, while gaming as a whole is worth some $450 billion dollars worldwide, only 25% of that global market share belongs to physical casinos. The other 75% of revenue comes from sports betting and mobile gaming, both of which have been particularly prone to evolve with technology.

Online gambling within the borders of New Jersey was legalised in February 2013. This allowed New Jersey’s land-based casinos the chance to apply for an online gaming permit. Doing so would allow them to work with an online gaming company which would provide the services required to offer an online gambling website.

From a player’s perspective, inspecting the casino’s background is a must. Verifying that it holds the proper license is a strong indication of trustworthiness; after all, no one wants to experience any kind of issues with dishonest random number generators or when trying to withdraw the money. Dutch gambling authority, the Kansspelautoriteit, will enforce new rules starting with January 1^st, 2021 that aim to form a list of trustworthy Dutch online casinos both for domestic and international players.

2020 began with a series of unfortunate news and has now peaked with the Coronavirus pandemic. In addition to affecting lives, it has also hampered various livelihoods. Offices and businesses have shut their doors to the public for safety reasons, and gaming houses are not left unscathed. Across Canada and the USA, governments have ordered the closure of land-based casinos, including popular gambling destinations like Las Vegas, Montreal, and Ontario.
