The Government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea has granted the online gaming, online betting, and online casino master license to Mascott Capital Partners, an igaming and licence management company, as part of the launch of the country’s regulatory framework for online gambling.
The granting of the online gaming master license to Mascott Capital Partners is a first for Equatorial Guinea, representing a significant move in the regulation of digital gambling and the introduction of new licensing guidelines for online gambling operations under the Equatorial Guinea jurisdiction.
The Online Gaming, Online Betting and Online Casino Licensing Framework establishes robust guidelines for overseeing international activities in Equatorial Guinea and is designed to ensure industry integrity, consumer protection, and compliance with international best practices. This framework outlines clear application processes, compliance requirements, and financial obligations to promote a transparent and responsible gaming environment under the sovereign laws of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
Multinational operators can utilise the Mascott Capital Partners' digital platform for support in submitting applications for an online gaming license. This initiative represents an important step forward in promoting Equatorial Guinea as a recognized jurisdiction for remote online gaming, online gambling and online casino business.
Mascott Capital Partners and its authorised partners will use a proprietary software system to support and manage all international gaming licenses through a single portal.
All international online gaming, online betting, and online casino businesses must apply for the new Online Gaming License under Equatorial Guinean law. International online casinos must undergo regular audits to ensure compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) laws, which includes requesting user identification and reporting suspected fraudulent transactions to authorities. Companies must also protect players by providing information about the risks of gambling on their websites and must meet a financial threshold to ensure they can repay user funds.
"The launch of online gaming, online betting, and online casinos in Equatorial Guinea is one of the most significant measures taken by gaming regulators in the country's history and Mascott Capital Partners' digital platform will assist in submitting online gaming license applications", said H.E. Mr Antonio-Pedro Oliveira Burupu, who heads the Ministry for Tourism and Tourism Infrastructure, Equatorial Guinea.
"This initiative represents a significant step forward in promoting Equatorial Guinea as a recognized jurisdiction for remote online gaming, online gambling, and online casino businesses. It is also a significant step in diversifying Equatorial Guinea's economy, attracting international investment to the digital space, and strengthening consumer confidence in the remote online gaming services provided under Equatorial Guinea's jurisdiction, making Equatorial Guinea an international destination of choice for igaming".
This new regulatory framework provides another option for online licensing to multinational operators, alongside those permits issued by the authorities of Curaçao and Anjoan.
