Manx Telecom announces new £10m data centre and big data analytics partnership

Isle of Man-based hosting and full service provider Manx Telecom has announced the start of work on a new data centre, and news of a partnership with big data and predictive analytics specialists Idiro Technologies. The new data centre is a £10 million three phase project which upon completion will result in a new purpose-built Tier 3 data centre located near to Manx Telecom’s headquarters in Douglas. Phase one of the Greenhill Data Centre is scheduled to be open for business on January 1, 2014 and it will become Manx Telecom’s third data centre in total, its second Tier 3 data centre, and by far the biggest of any on the Island in terms of rack space. Manx Telecom is currently the only Isle of Man hosting provider with a purpose built Tier 3 facility, at Douglas North, and already hosts the world's largest poker sites PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, and Europe's largest bookmaker PaddyPower.

The partnership with Idiro Technologies will combine Manx Telecom’s world class hosting expertise with Idiro’s unique predictive and social network analysis platform, providing the ability to handle big data, analyse it, and effectively use it for commercial advantage. Manx Telecom Intelligent Analytics – powered by Idiro – will be an addition to Manx Telecom’s hosting and eGaming proposition and can be applied in a number of sectors including egaming, financial services, hospitality, retail, and utilities. Commenting on the partnership, Manx Telecom Sales Director Fergal McKenna added: “Not only can we provide one of the most reliable, secure and trusted hosting facilities anywhere in the world, we can now also help our clients understand what ‘big data’ says about their customers and most importantly, which segments to target for acquisition, retention and growth through more effective direct marketing and social network influence”.

As well as exhibiting with the Isle of Man Government, Manx Telecom will, for the first time, have its own stand (number 630) at EIG Barcelona which runs from October 8th to 10th. In addition, the company is sponsoring the Isle of Man eClub’s pre-EIG event at The Courthouse Club in Douglas, Isle of Man, on October 1, and will also be a sponsor of the KPMG eGaming Summit in the Isle of Man in November.
