Live Table Games Launch at Shippensburg

It seems hard to think of a casino that does not have real hosts and hostesses at tables, dealing cards, and spinning roulette wheels. Yet that has been the reality for one casino in Pennsylvania, the Parx Casino in Shippensburg. Opened in 2023, the casino has been the only one in the area to operate a policy in which electronic game setups were the sole option. Luckily, all that has now changed.

Parx Casino Shippensburg

Based in the Cumberland Valley, the casino is one of 17 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. A petition was known to have been given to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in November, which would allow the company to launch live table games for the first time in the venue.

The petition read that “In modifying its gaming floor with the introduction of live table games, Parx seeks to adequately serve the market’s demand.” The proposal was that the gaming floor would remain the same, with its 31,200-square-foot floor space, along with the 495 mechanical slots. However, a request was made that a rule regarding a separate chip bank to support table games be waived.

Parx Casino's online branch, known as betPARX, has also recently been making major moves forward in the online gaming and sports betting sphere. Partnering with veteran developers Playtech, they have relaunched apps in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This will allow users the chance to experience their highly efficient app and customer service alongside games from Origins and Rarestone Studios. Crucially, they are also offering a betPARX promo for new users, allowing people to try out the new app.

The Final Implementation Phase

The final phase of implementation for this has begun and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board began the testing of the tables in the last week of January. A soft launch began the week after. It has now added 12 traditional tables, covering blackjack, roulette, and poker variations.

Many expect that the tables will be a much-needed boost for the casino and the Pennsylvania economy, having made $592,417 in revenue from table games in 2025. This figure stood at $873,904 in 2024, marking a radical 32.21% decline and the biggest revenue fall posted by any casino in the state.

Declining Table Game Revenue in Pennsylvania

Overall, table game revenue has been declining in Pennsylvania casinos. However, this loss has not been uniform, with some casinos such as Parx Casino Shippensburg posting large losses, while others have bumper revenue years. In all, ten of the casinos posted gains, such as the Parx Casino in Bensalem. Some casinos made more in table games revenue than Shippensburg but less in slots.

In 2024, table game revenue in the state came to $937.2 million. By 2025, it had dropped 1.25% to $925.4 million. All of this was while the revenue for iGaming rose, echoing a trend often seen across the US. All of this proves that live table games can beat electronic and online ones due to their interactive nature. It is this social sense of occasion that keeps people going to physical casinos, and it is hopefully a tactic that will serve Parx Shippensburg well.
