WORLD SERIES OF POKER SET TO RAISE THE STAKES ON THE GOLD COAST

It’s a royal flush for Aussie poker fans this year with The Star Gold Coast set to host one of the world’s most competitive poker tournaments – World Series of Poker – for the first time this month.

Running from 24 November to 6 December, the World Series of Poker will see card sharks from across the country venture to the Coast for the series of 12 events.

The tournament is tipped to generate an impressive $5-7 million in prizes and attract a pool of around 3,500 players, with the Main Event prize pool alone expected to exceed $2 million. The Star Gold Coast Chief Operating Officer, Jess Mellor, said the World Series of Poker helps cement The Star as Australia’s home of poker.

“Securing Queensland’s inaugural World Series of Poker event is a fantastic coup for our city, and is a huge testament to our commitment to continually elevating our offering and cementing our reputation as an ever evolving entertainment mecca,” Ms Mellor said.
The stakes will be high on the poker floor, expanded to include 32 dedicated tables themed in full Vegas glamour, as passionate players vie for one of the World Series of Poker’s signature rings and an exclusive invite to the annual Tournament of Champions in Vegas in 2023.

The full schedule for the World Series of Poker event at The Star Gold Coast is now live, and contestants are encouraged to register early to put their hand in the ring.
