GROSVENOR CASINOS DEALS A HELPING HAND TO NOTTINGHAM JOB SEEKERS

It is ‘aces high’ for job seekers based in Nottingham, as Grosvenor Casinos offers a helping hand to kick start careers.

Grosvenor Casino Nottingham, located on Maid Marian Way, ran a four-week gaming academy to help teach job seekers how to become a casino dealer and to deal the most popular casino games, including roulette and poker, with the offer of full-time employment if they qualify.

Ten aspiring Casino Dealers, aged between 18 and 30 years old, have been put through their paces on the Grosvenor Casinos gaming academy which included training on Blackjack, Poker and Roulette. From learning casino terminology, the difference between odds and pay-outs, as well as the correct way to spin the roulette ball, the academy helps applicants to learn how best to manage the fast-paced nature of bets placed by guests when they visit the casino.

Those taking part are also being tutored on the times tables up to 35 and are receiving tips and tricks on how to improve their dexterity when it comes to collecting and gathering bets and chips, to ensure they can deliver excellent service in the quickest way possible.

As part of Grosvenor Casinos’ commitment to safer gambling, the academy also focuses on safeguarding guests and educating team members about the importance of ensuring all guests always play responsibly.

Emily Poxson, an 18-year-old trainee from Nottingham, said: “I was completely new to casinos and gambling, when I decided to join the Gaming Academy. Taking part in this training has allowed me to learn so much about the different casino games and I was really surprised at how accessible they are, as well as how many women come to play.

“This experience has been the most fun I have ever had in a job and enjoyed the support and training we’ve received. I’d like to give a special thanks to our mentor, who was so incredibly patient with us. I was also impressed by the measures in place to help support safer gambling. I cannot wait to get started in my career as a dealer and hope to eventually take my skills abroad with the chance to travel whilst further evolving with Grosvenor Casinos.”

Daren Brain, General Manager at Grosvenor Casino Nottingham, commented on the Gaming Academy: “We have a strong track record for providing training opportunities for city’s job seekers to upskill and join our team. A career as a casino dealer is a highly skilled profession which offers flexible working as well as valuable training to make casinos more accessible and safer for all.

“We are determined to offer all applicants of the gaming academy the chance to work for Grosvenor Casinos and become part of the team here.”

Alongside the Gaming Academy, Grosvenor Casinos is also carrying out a recruitment drive for job seekers across other casinos with a range of roles available to those looking for job opportunities.
